Hi Bob,
I need to gather some information from my club members and staff.
I don’t have a big budget and some of my friends are very
concerned about their privacy. What do you recommend? Thanks, Joe
Dear Joe,
If you have everyone's e-mail address, we could plan a web-based
survey that would satisfy all your requirements. Bob
Why should Joe use a web-based survey?
A web-based survey is the quickest, easiest, and most cost-effective
way to collect information. No special software must be installed
on a respondent's computer, and anyone with access to the Internet
can take the survey.
Where are the surveys and responses stored?
SRA stores all information on our secure servers to protect the
privacy of respondents. This eliminates the need for installation
of software on the respondents’ computer and makes the surveys
available from anywhere.
How can Joe be sure that a person’s individual survey is
protected? With more interactive approaches to web-based surveying, such
as our Survey System, protection is greatly enhanced, thanks to
the following security measures:
1. The entire survey is hosted on our secure servers. All activities
take place on these servers and no raw data travels across the Internet.
2. All data transferred and stored throughout the survey are encrypted.
Without the proper software to decode the language, the data would
have little value.
3. The data set and data map are stored in separate areas of our
servers. Even if a malicious hacker obtained and decrypted a data
file, without the data map to match up the questions, no usable
information would be obtained.
What happens to the e-mail addresses Joe provides SRA?
All e-mail addresses provided to SRA remain private and inaccessible.
Survey respondents do not have access to e-mail addresses of other
respondents and SRA will not utilize, share, or sell these addresses
for any purpose.
When can Joe see the results of the survey?
SRA can establish an online reporting system that enables clients
to log on and view results by question at any time. ‡
